Nelli (Indian Gooseberry) and Betel Leaf Rasam for Joint Pain Relief

Ingredients:

  • 10 Indian gooseberries (nelli)
  • 20 betel leaves
  • 1 handful of coriander leaves
  • 1 handful of curry leaves
  • 4 dried red chilies
  • 6 cloves of garlic
  • 1 teaspoon of long pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 2 tablespoons of sesame oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions:

  1. Extract the juice from the Indian gooseberries after removing the seeds.
  2. Finely chop the curry leaves, coriander leaves, and betel leaves.
  3. Dry roast dried red chilies, chopped garlic, and slightly crushed long pepper and cumin seeds in a pan until light brown.
  4. Add the chopped curry leaves, betel leaves, coriander leaves, and turmeric powder to the pan and sauté.
  5. Grind the sautéed mixture into a fine paste.
  6. Heat oil in a pan and sauté the ground paste.
  7. Add the Indian gooseberry juice and water to the pan and simmer.
  8. Add salt to taste and remove from heat before it boils.
